Западная Германия, 70-е годы. Рита Фогт - одна из участниц террористической организации "красные бригады" спасается, с помощью агентов "Штази", от преследования властей и находит убежище в Восточной Германии. Живя там, она получает от "Штази" различные легенды - фальшивые биографии - по мере того, как ей приходится переезжать с места на место, опасаясь разоблачения... Казалось бы, прошлое кануло в Лету, и тайна Риты никогда не раскроется. Но новый мир надежд однажды может обрушиться в бездну..
